1. What
did you want the class to learn from your teachback presentation?
a. My
partner and I wanted our class to learn about assessment in general. We wanted
to share a brief explanation about how assessment greatly reflects on federal
law rules. We also wanted the class to know a short explanation of the
difference between assessment and test; many people often think that assessment
and test are similar and is simply a synonym to one another. From our teachback
we explained the traditional and today’s reason why assessments are used for
and in general, what teacher’s need to know about assessments.
2. How
did you asses what they learned?
a. We
used a continuum voting activity as our assessment; however it was not very
effective because we noticed that some students followed the students who knew
the answers. We tried our best to check their understanding by asking those who
disagreed with the correct answers..
3. I
am proudest of these components of my teachback presentation: (explain why)
a. I
enjoyed the whole activity expect for the assessment. The lecture was short and
simple and easy to understand, the discussion between students and teacher was
present which showed us that they were paying attention. As for the warm-up
activity and chapter activity, it went well. Students were engaged and ready to
participate and learn.
4. I
can improve my teaching in the following ways: (explain why you felt these are
areas that needed to be improved)
a. I
think the oral presentation needed more improvement. I was nervous! I was ready
to present, but when I see the crowd looking at me, I completely forget the
things I need to say or explain. As I have mentioned earlier, assessment also needed
improvement. Another way we could have done the activity is by putting their
heads down and having them raise their hands if they agreed and place their
hands on the table if they disagreed. I honestly felt that the continuum voting
needed to be planned out well
5. Ideas
to contemplate?
a. New
assessment activities, other hands-on activities that deals with the chapters
that would entice the rest of the class to join in on the class discussion.
6. Why
was it important to study this chapter?
a. I
think it is important to study this chapter because it gives us information of
how assessment came about, what do teachers need to know about, how it is
important, how it reflects on teachers and the school itself. Without knowing
the foundation of assessment, it will be difficult for many of us to understand
what assessment really is.
